North Pension Fund Summary Plan Description (SPD) >> Important Notice
We are pleased to present you with this revised Summary Plan
Description (“SPD”) explaining the benefits provided through the Service
Employees 32BJ North Pension Fund to eligible Participants and their
designated Beneficiaries. We suggest you review this material carefully
in order to fully understand the benefits provided. This revised Summary
Plan Description explains the rules of the Fund as of January 1, 2008.
This SPD is intended to provide a general summary of the main
provisions of the Plan. It is not a complete description of the Plan. A
complete description of the Plan can only be found in the Plan document,
a copy of which is available from the Fund. If you would like a copy of
the Plan, please call 1-866-231-3225. In case of any conflict between the
provisions of the Plan document and this SPD, the provisions of the Plan
document will always control.
Certain terms used in this SPD have specific meanings with respect
to your pension benefits. These words are capitalized and are defined
beginning on page 6. The words “you” or “your” used throughout this
SPD mean the Participant unless the context clearly provides otherwise.
Although the Trustees intend to continue the Plan indefinitely, they
reserve the right to terminate the Plan at any time. The provisions of
this document are subject to the rules, regulations or procedures of the
Plan in effect at the time the claim is made. The Board of Trustees has
the power to interpret, apply, construe, and amend the provisions of
the Plan and make factual determinations regarding its construction,
interpretation and application, and any decision made by the Board
of Trustees in good faith is binding upon employers, Employees,
Participants, Beneficiaries, and all other persons who may be involved or
affected by the Plan. You will be notified of any material changes to this
SPD as required by law.
It is extremely important that you keep the Fund informed of any
change in your address, marital status or desired changes in Beneficiary
designation. This is your obligation and you could lose benefits if you fail
to do so.
Please remember that no one other than the Fund Office can verify
your Plan benefits. Do not rely upon any statement regarding benefits
under the Plan made by your employer, your union agent or other
employees. If you have trouble understanding any part of this material
